Fair Harbor, Fire Island is located towards the western end of the island between Saltaire and Dunewood. Fair Harbor is a diverse community that is home to one of the larger markets on the island, a hardware store, restaurant, pizza place, ice cream shop and much more. Fiar Harbor has been affected over the past 10 years, as have many of the western communities, with beach erosion problems. but, with money and effort, comes sand. And, over the past few years many communities and citizens have contributed to help bring sand and wide beaches back to Fair Harbor and other local communities.

Fair Harbor is a very friendly community and you can find many of it’s inhabitants taking in the suset over the Great South Bay from the dock on weekends. While there are no sports facilities in Fair Harbor, you can find many Fair Harbor natives in Saltaire playing basketball or softball on Saturdays and Sundays. So, if you are looking for a great place to experience Fire Island, but you don’t know anyone there, Fair Harbor is a great place to start. It offers a great mix of small town community with more amenities and mainland conforts.
